US avionics supplier Astronautics Corp of America is to implement IFS Applications 7 ERP software for 1,500 users, initially across three of its sites.

Astronautics is headquartered in Milwaukee, and other sites on the roll-out list are its Kearfott facilities in New Jersey and North Carolina. The company says it also plans to implement the software at another manufacturing facility in Mexico. IFS will be delighted with the contract, which builds on its growing aerospace and defence portfolio of users, which includes US, British and Norwegian defence companies, as well as the Eurofighter consortium. Commercial MRO (maintenance, repair and operations) shops and fleet operators using IFS include Finnair, Bristow Helicopters, Aero-Dienst GmbH, Hawker Pacific, and Jet Turbine Services. And IFS also provides solutions to OEMs like General Dynamics, Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Saab Aerosystems and GE Aircraft Engines. Astronautics is a prime contractor to the US Department of Defense and a subcontractor to large defence, aerospace and electronics companies like Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Airbus, Sikorsky, Pilatus and Augusta. Astronautics and Kearfott manufacture electronic flight instrument systems and displays, airborne network servers, flight director computers, control systems, guidance and navigation systems, as well as precision components. They will have access to IFS’ integrated project tracking and product data management (PDM) capabilities, linked to the core system covering management of everything from manufacturing to ongoing logistics and maintenance support in what are typically complex products and projects.
