Beverage Plastics Chooses SyteLine ERP for quality control

Co Armagh-based plastic bottles manufacturer Beverage Plastics says it has gone for an Infor ERP SyteLine business system to improve production planning and enable better planned maintenance.

Shirley, Beverage Plastics' IT manager and project manager, says the investment is needed to support the company's high volume, continuous 24 x 7 production environment. "We reached a stage where an upgrade to a new version of our current system would have been very costly, so we took the opportunity to investigate the market and see what else was available," says Dew. She also says that the team was "very pleasantly surprised" at the functionality available in modern ERP systems – and it ooked at six options, before shortlisting two and choosing SyteLine. Beverage Plastics is implementing ERP SyteLine in several areas, but particularly quality control, production planning, maintenance and shopfloor data collection – all of which currently generating a large amount of manual records. Dew expects the system to allow the firm to capture data on quality checks, introduce a barcode stock tracking system for finished goods stock and implement a production planning system that includes scheduled maintenance and is visible to the entire company. "The approach of the Infor team gives us high expectations of the benefits that we can achieve through this project. Infor's approach to the sales process was unique. It was not about showing off the software, but focusing on areas in our business where they believed ERP SyteLine could bring benefits," concludes Dew.
