Computer Associates is investing eur 20m to expand its IT network management business in small to mid size companies in Europe. The company says it will be focusing on delivering total protection of companies’ IT environments, allowing them to focus on their core business. This is a significant step for CA> It will be offering a portfolio of products packaged to meet the needs of SMEs, and sold through its 17,000- partners. “Our move into the SMB market is the cornerstone of CA’s growth strategy in EMEA,” said Hayley Tabor, CA’s senior vice president and general manager, EMEA. “CA is delivering tailored IT solutions that will enable SMBs to protect their IT assets with convenience, simplicity and enterprise-class reliability.” The firm says users will get a one stop shop for best-in-class anti-virus, backup, anti-spyware and desktop migration. Products include BrightStor ARCserve Backup, eTrust Antivirus, Unicenter Desktop DNA and eTrust PestPatrol. Beyond that, CA has opened a new eur 16.5m ‘customer interaction’ centre in Barcelona, dedicated to SMEs and running alongside its existing centre at Ditton Park, Datchet. And it’s creating a global software development group, with resources targeted at the EMEA region that will help customize and tailor its IT management products for SMEs.
