IET appoints new Chief Executive

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has announced the appointment of Nigel Fine as its new chief executive and secretary.

Previously a managing director with credit reporting specialist Experian, Fine spent his early career with John Laing and International Paint, joining Andersen Consulting (Accenture) in 1994. A civil engineering graduate, he is a chartered engineer and has an MBA from the London Business School. Commenting on his appointment, Fine who will take up his new appointment on 8 June, said: “I am delighted to be given this opportunity to lead such a prestigious Institution. I am looking forward to working with the IET members, trustees and staff to promote the advancement of science, engineering and technology through inspiring our young professionals, raising public awareness of the contribution the profession makes for the advancement and benefit of society and supporting professional development to maintain the highest standards of performance.”
