Job vacancies in UK manufacturing soared by 33% in the past year, according to CV-Library.

Data collected by the independent job site also found the industry was one of a few to witness a hike in job applications – increasing by 11.2% - putting the sector in a promising position for 2017.

The findings compared job market activity in December 2016 to December 2015.

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said it is “fantastic” to see the manufacturing job market performing so well, especially in a month that is usually quieter in recruitment.

“The UK as a whole saw a significant drop in the amount of jobs on offer last month, which makes this industry’s impressive performance all the more remarkable,” he said.

Further findings show that salaries also increased by 7.6% year-on-year, and 9.1% when comparing data with November 2016.

“We hope that this excellent performance will carry on throughout the early part of 2017, as candidates and businesses in the manufacturing industry look to find, and fill, great jobs,” Biggins added.
