Nottingham Uni wins approval for Advanced Manufacturing Building

Nottingham University’s application for an Advanced Manufacturing Building (AMB) on campus will be approved by the local authorities, documents from an upcoming council meeting suggest.

The university submitted an application for planning permission to Nottingham Council in February of this year. Two months later papers related to an upcoming council meeting, on 20 April, reveal council officers have given their approval to the 96,000 square foot site.

The statement praises the university’s scheme as an example of its “commitment to continue to invest in the city and to improve the standing of Nottingham as a world city”.

The AMB is part of a £100 million commitment from Nottingham University to the city’s manufacturing sector. It is hoped that up to 700 staff and researchers will be based at the site, which will include research and development facilities. The university is looking to attract big manufacturing names to the area through partnerships and further investment.
