Renishaw appoints David Grant as director

The engineering group Renishaw has appointed Dr David Grant (pictured) as a non-executive director.

The 64 year-old is Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University, a post from which he will retire in September, and has been involved with a number of international engineering companies including Dowty and GEC where he was Group Technical Director. Among other directorships, he is currently a board member of the Technology Strategy Board and of the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. He has been a Vice-President of the Royal Academy of Engineering since 2007. Commenting on the appointment, Renishaw's Chairman and Chief Executive Sir David McMurtry, said he was delighted to welcome David Grant to the board. "With his extensive experience in industry as an engineer and his senior positions in research, education and training, David will be a valuable addition to the company's resources at board level."
