PEME Launches ‘Firstline RCM’ Training Courses

Maintenance Partnerships provider PEME has launched a range of short training courses to assist clients' engineers and operations personnel in gaining a better understanding of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), Condition Based Monitoring (CBM) and Preventative Maintenance.

The Peterborough-based company has developed a range of in-house reliability processes and associated training courses that are attended by both PEME engineers and clients' personnel. This promotes the success of reliability initiatives, implemented by PEME through maintenance partnerships with their clients, by ensuring a common understanding of the methodologies and processes being followed. One of these courses is the "Firstline Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) 1-day course" that trains clients' engineers to use an abridged-RCM process when making decisions about preventive maintenance tasks and task intervals. This course also provides guidance on how to write maintenance task descriptions that are unambiguous and quantitative. RCM is an effective reliability improvement methodology that focuses on identifying appropriate plant maintenance tasks that effectively manage the risks of equipment failure. RCM can yield results very quickly if correctly focused and applied. PEME uses the structured decision-making framework provided by RCM, to create a cost-effective and safe, engineering asset management strategy to address dominant causes of equipment failure. The result is a planned maintenance program that focuses economic resources on those engineering assets that would cause the most disruption to operations if they were to fail. RCM emphasises the use of Condition Monitoring techniques alongside justified Preventive Maintenance tasks. Associate Director, Wayne Pheasey commented: "PEME's Firstline RCM courses ensure the client's engineers have a good understanding of the techniques our PEME engineers use, and are able to implement RCM processes themselves." PEME is a specialist engineering company that helps clients to realise sustainable improvements in asset reliability and cost-effectiveness through the pragmatic application of reliability technologies and methods alongside maintenance outsourcing services and partnerships. They achieve this by fielding Reliability Engineers who deliver reliability improvement projects and also by ensuring their maintenance workforce have the knowledge and skills to make effective decisions when carrying out plant maintenance tasks.
