Cullum Detuners in Derby, the industrial environmental noise control systems designer and builder, is to go live with a £130,000 Frontstep (formerly Symix) ERP (enterprise resource planning) and workflow system next month. It’s all about connecting, automating and streamlining Cullum Detuner’s business processes. The system, which includes Frontstep’s Syteline ERP, along with additional payroll, stock control and data collection modules, will provide company-wide IT systems integration, and thus ultimately improved management visibility, control and efficiency as well as reduced costs. Cullum Detuners, which serves the aerospace, power generation and oil and gas industries, had been using a bespoke, non-integrated system. Integrating data and order processing is just one example of where the new system will immediately eradicate manual processes, it says. But there’s more. Shaun Coope, Cullum’s operations director, says the facilities of Frontstep’s workflow system were key in its choice. Not only does it provide for automated business processing throughout, but also a way of tailoring the system, and enabling relatively easy change should this be required in the future. Says Coope: “It’s always an act of faith when choosing a new IT partner, but Frontstep filled us with confidence about their understanding of our business problems, and we had received good reviews about their software from users and analysts alike.”
