Following the news that mid market manufacturing ERP vendor Information Engineering’s Total Factory APS (advanced planning and scheduling) software is now to be marketed by all Syspro distributors as ‘Impact Encore APS’, the company has landed a $1,000,000 deal for the suite with its US counterpart Syspro USA. Brian Stein CEO of Syspro Impact Software Inc says: “After the success we had with Total Factory APS in 2001 under difficult trading conditions, we are extremely confident about meeting our revenue commitments for Impact Encore APS this year.” And he adds: “Over the last 12 months we have won business for our core ERP software as a direct result of the functionality that Impact Encore APS provides our customers”. Pat McCarthy, Information Engineering’s managing director, says: “Impact Encore APS is a terrifically successful product and this news shows that advanced planning and scheduling is becoming an essential part of any ERP solution. It is also a further indication that US businesses are feeling increasingly confident about improving trading conditions over the coming months.” Total Factory was first launched in 1998. It closes the loop between the ERP system and the shopfloor, with a mix of finite capacity scheduling and real time shopfloor data collection, so that manufacturers improve efficiency and resource utilisation, while also becoming more responsive to changing customer demands. “For instance”, says McCarthy, “if a sales representative is visiting a prospect and on the verge of securing an order, and is asked by a customer when he can deliver, a traditional MRPII environment does not allow [him or her] to answer accurately, unless the order is fulfilled from stock. “Impact Encore APS now allows the representative to promise with certainty because the system knows instantly whether there are the materials, machines and capacity available to meet the deadline he quotes. “Further, if a customer wants to change their order, then the system allows the user to make an immediate judgement on the impact of the change.”
