PSA Peugeot Citroën says it’s getting data interoperability throughout its French operations through TranscenData’s CAD transfer and automated repair software tools, including the latest Catia export module. The firm has been experiencing the classic problems associated with information and file transfer between different CAD systems, which ultimately make models across systems difficult to work with. Nicolas Tournier, engineer at PSA says: “The format changes [the CAD models] had undergone made them almost impossible to utilise directly. CADfix allows us not only to repair the CAD models … but also to generate a much higher standard of CAD model which can be immediately worked with in VR (virtual reality).” PSA is curently working to create virtual reality models of vehicles, the aim being to allow people to ‘look’ around a vehicle and see a complete 3D presentation on the Internet. Tournier says the software “has assisted us in creating meshes which can then be reworked on the Internet.”
