Europ Supervision is the new name in SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition), bringing together distributors of the existing Microsoft-based Panorama SCADA suite under one global umbrella. Formerly marketed in the UK by Industrial Computer Source, Panorama is now back under the control of author Codra in France (which originally developed the system for the French atomic energy authority), now serving as the base for Europ Supervision’s central engineering and support staff. Chris Cox, European sales manager based in Luton, says that Panorama will now be offered with full, consistent consultancy, training, support, maintenance and warranty services to system implementers, OEMs and manufacturing end users directly by the new organisation. He accepts he’ll have his work cut out against larger competitors like Intellution and Wonderware, part of the Emerson and Invesys empires respectively, but believes that sophistication, Microsoft partnering and preparedness to go the extra mile will count in his favour. The firm expects now to offer what is a high specd system beyond its process industry alarm handling, telemetry and emergency shutdown system roots.
