Manufacturers wanting to improve their ERP systems’ effectiveness in terms of more efficient factory floor, supply chain and distribution operations, might do well to go to system implementer KTP’s Beverley HQ to see its facility. The company, with SAP and others in the implementer community has built a showcase to demonstrate how its mybarcode.com can be used with SAP and other ERP systems to drive benefit. Included are SAP running wireless between sites, hand held radio terminals for barcode tracking integrated with warehouse and materials management modules, and hardware stock management with serial number tracking, again integrated into the WMS, but also service management. There’s also a time and attendance and access control hook-up and service management using alerts for remotely monitoring service support calls. Additions due shortly include: RFID tagging of service loan stock, issues and returns; manufacturing WIP (work in progress) tracking with real time links into production planning and materials and warehouse management; and RFID tagging of assets integrated with SAP’s asset management module.
