Simtone, the Spanish global electronics manufacturer and one of the world’s largest specialised switch makers, is to implement ERP software vendor Scala’s suite at its China facility. Simtone will use Scala’s financial, logistics, manufacturing and HR modules to support its considerable growth in the Far East. “After an extensive evaluation of different ERP vendors’ solutions, we decided to go with Scala because of its flexible software architecture combined with their 13-years track record in China,” says Liu De Ying, general manager of Simtone. “The software localisation makes us confident that Scala can satisfy our business needs in China.” Simtone established its presence in China in 1999 when the company opened offices in Shanghai and Jiangsu. Since then, it has opened another 30 offices, and today works with more than 2,000 distributors across China. For the second consecutive year, Scala Business Solutions has been the number one ERP vendor in China, according to a report by analyst IDC published last June. Scala was the vendor with the largest customer base in China at the end of 2000, with 315 installations – over 12% of all ERP installations in mainland China. Scala was also awarded ‘ERP Solution of the Year’ in 2001 by Microsoft.
