TT electronics, a global designer and manufacturer of electronic components, has decided to implement enterprise and supply chain software vendor, SAP’s e-business collaboration platform, mySAP.com, across 5 of its global manufacturing sites to enhance customer service and further develop the integration of its electronic component operations. TT electronics’ principal operating companies within its electronic component division will implement mySAP.com across five manufacturing sites internationally. The solutions will be used by over 500 users worldwide and will enable the businesses to work more closely together to identify cross-selling opportunities and offer enhanced customer service on a global basis. “Our decision to work with the software stemmed from two key factors,” said Barry Rolison, divisional finance director at TT electronics. “For one, we were reassured by, and impressed with, the success of the previous R/3 implementation at our German automotive sensor business. In addition, the solution is scalable, so it can grow as we do. “The software is able to support sites globally, and SAP has an ongoing commitment to product development and has proven expertise in our sector. These factors also played an important role in our decision.” Paul Eggleton, business development manager, discrete industries at SAP UK, commented: “The fact that the solutions will be implemented across manufacturing sites in Europe, Asia and North America in under two years demonstrates TT’s commitment to maximise the benefits of its global network of operations. By 2003, it will have significantly improved the efficiency and effectiveness of its systems. This, together with an enhanced customer service capability, will allow it to take on its competition even more effectively and to consolidate its position as a leader in its market.”
