Manufacturing Management (MM) is pleased to announce that it has lined up some world class Factory Tour Experience Days over the coming few months.

Taking place on Thursday 24 May, MM will be hosting a Factory Tour Experience Day at the home of a British manufacturing icon – MINI Oxford Plant.

Delegates will learn how the plant is harnessing Industry 4.0 technologies such as robotics and automation to deliver a lean manufacturing process that is the envy of the world. Expert guides will be on hand to take you behind the scenes of one of the UK’s most productive manufacturing sites.

Then, on 3 July, delegates can discover the potential of Industry 4.0 at Siemens’ award-winning Congleton plant.

The plant is at the cutting edge of Siemens’ unique ‘North Star’ vision and uses virtual technology, including a futuristic 3D cave, to stand out as one of the true pioneers of factory design today. The site puts continuous improvement at the heart of everything it does, driven by tough shareholder demands to deliver a 5.5% year-on-year price reduction.

Delegates, on the tour on 3 July, will see how the factory is harnessing the latest technologies to deliver on its CI goals – with 6% year-on-year productivity gains and an 85% employee engagement rate – and how Industry 4.0 can help grow productivity and profit in your site.

And finally, why not visit the Portsmouth site of former BFA winner City Technology on 11 July to discover how visual management and an empowered workforce combine to create a factory at the cutting edge of its sector.

Since being acquired by global industrial giant Honeywell in 2006, the site now produces 1.6 million gas sensors annually. A processed workflow is vital to ensuring the production quality of safety-critical products, and delegates will see first-hand how the site goes about this.

Chris Beck, editor of MM, said: “This latest round of Factory Tour Experience Days will give delegates the chance to see behind-the-scenes of some of Britain’s most iconic and productive manufacturing sites. These tours give you the opportunity to learn first-hand how other manufacturers are excelling in what they do, and will provide you with tangible knowledge and ideas to take back to your own site.”
