AAutomation systems developer Hoerbiger-Origa attributes last year's revenue growth to the success of its online interactive catalogue. That's led to a 75% cut in printing costs – and part searches and configuration times of two minutes instead of two days.
The company also says it's speeding up product development work, and all of the achievements are down to SolidWorks 3D mechanical design and Cosmos design analysis software, along with the SolidWorks 3D PartStream.Net service.
That system allowed the firm to tailor its catalogue to generate part numbers for every custom part – improving order management, production, tracking and billing.
"Our customers need quick access to part information," explains Hoerbiger-Origa VP of operations and engineering, Larry Huetsch. "Rather than calling a service rep, then transferring to tech support and ultimately talking to an engineer, they now need only go to the website.
"Once customers access our online content and see how easy it is to use, they buy our products."
Hoerbiger-Origa components are available to CAD users around the world on SolidWorks' 3D ContentCentral service, which provides an online directory of downloadable 3D CAD models. The system is available online to the 400,000-plus SolidWorks users.
