Manufacturing ERP consolidator Infor says that more than 1,000 customers have upgraded to the latest version of its SyteLine ERP system since the launch late last year, bringing the total number using the system to over 5,000 worldwide.

In particular, Infor says it has experienced increased demand for SyteLine from manufacturers in industries such as shipbuilding, aerospace and industrial equipment and machinery. Recent takers include some 120 companies, such as Truck Bodies and Equipment, Tutco and Schenck AccurRate, which say they chose SyteLine for functionality that helps manufacturers reduce costs, optimise business processes and enhance operational efficiency. Infor believes the uptake is in part due to a trend in manufacturing of companies expanding into emerging countries, such as China, India and Eastern Europe. The firm also cites the system’s support of extended lean thinking into supply chains. “Global competition and pricing pressures place an extraordinary demand on today’s manufacturers to strive for new levels of efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness,” explains Mike Frichol, Infor’s vice president of global industry and product marketing. ”SyteLine provides these companies with the flexibility and agility to rapidly respond to a burgeoning market and capitalise on new revenue streams. Combined with the operational insight to anticipate what will be required in six months or a year, this can mean the difference between struggling to survive and setting the pace.”
