Pobjoy and Timloc – both Access Supply Chain customers – are among those shortlisted in the MITcon 2008 Best Manufacturing IT Awards.
The annual MITcon (manufacturing IT conference) awards are organised by leading Manufacturing Computer Solutions, and designed to recognise the very best of UK manufacturing’s IT strategies and implementations.
In naming the successful companies, the organiser said the judges were looking for “evidence of a return on investment, and the benefits that have led to improvements, cost-cutting and competitive advantage.”
The Awards have attracted a record number of entries this year, with entries from more than 350 manufacturers. Both Pobjoy and Timloc have been shortlisted in the ‘IT in manufacturing/business management (ERP)’ category, while Pobjoy has also made it onto the ‘IT in supply chain management’ category.
Says Timloc finance director Davin Coleman: “We’re very pleased because this wasn’t just a case of replacing our IT system. We were refining our manufacturing processes to embrace best practice and we wanted a new software solution to reflect that.”
Pobjoy managing director Taya Pobjoy says: “This is well-deserved recognition for our people who, with no real IT expertise, took the challenge of implementing a brand new IT system in their stride. They were able to achieve what we did because the system is easy to implement and easy to use. Now, we’re running nice and smoothly - and we did it in less than a year.
The winners will be presented with their awards at the MITcon IT conference at the National Space Centre in Leicester on 11 June 2008.
