Acorn underpins global product development on Windchill implementation

Global engineering design contractor Acorn Product Development has begun upgrading to PTC Windchill PDMLink, building on its Pro/Engineer CAD infrastructure to support current growth in demand for its multi-time zone collaborative development offering.

The firm, which develops products for consumer, computer, communication and medical companies like Logitech, Network Appliance, Siemens and Sun, covers everything from architectural analysis to manufacturing floor support. It says it needed an enterprise PLM (product lifecycle management) system able to improve the efficiency of its existing processes. It expects Windchill to do that by handling content and process management – managing data across its very distributed development environment, which includes uers inside and outside the company. “The Combination of PTC technology with the experience of our VAR NxRev provided the most compelling solution to help us implement a global product development strategy in order to sustain and increase our competitive advantage,” says Ken Haven, Acorn’s CEO. “The single integral technology architecture of PTC’s system was the key differentiator for us because it simplifies product development while also providing the power and scalability to support our continued growth. As we open new geographies, we feel confident that remote staff can immediately participate and contribute to product development.”
