Aggreko, the global supplier of temporary power, air conditioning and compressed air equipment, is set to spend £3.5m on creating a global ‘connect and go’ network covering 140 sites worldwide.
Using Swedish enterprise and supply chain software vendor, Intentia’s Java-based, Movex service and rental enterprise software running on Sun Solaris servers, for 1,000 Aggreko users.
The deal is a result of Aggreko’s own ‘Strategic Technology Initiative’ (STI) which it sees as fundamental to maintaining its growth targets.
“We are in the process of automating all our admin, contracts, billing, technical drawings, configurations and delivery specifications,” explains Aggreko’s global chief information officer, Tom Armstrong. “The global network will make everything more visible to our employees, improving our services to the customer.”
And Aggreko’s ceo, Philip Harrower, adds: “We will have a unified business where operational, financial and commercial information will flow freely and be accessible from any location around the world. It will give us real time information to improve the way we run our business, and give customers greater intimacy with the people providing them with a service.”
