Airbus will offer exclusive insight into the CI techniques that help its Broughton site manufacture wings for the A380, the world's largest passenger airliner, at the WM Manufacturing Conference this November.
Delegates will have the chance to tour the Broughton factory in North Wales and see how the aerospace giant operates its improvement programme.
The tour includes a visit to the line that builds the 36 metre long wings for the A380. The supersize wings are transported by barge for final assembly on to the aircraft in Toulouse, France.
Delegates will also have the chance to see inside Broughton's new North Factory. The £400m plant builds wings for the next generation A350 XWB jet, which will take its first flight this year. The factory has been built to strict environmental standards and features 140 sq mof photovoltaic solar panels and a biomass heating system.
The WMMC tour line-up has been further bolstered by the addition of Cheshire-based glass container manufacturer, Quinn Glass. Quinn Glass in Elton features a 27,000 m² production area, furnaces and 13 production lines.
The full WMMC factory tour line-up includes JLR, Halewood; Vauxhall, Ellesmere Port; Siemens, Congleton; Airbus, Broughton; and Quinn Glass, Elton. WMMC will be held on 20-21 November at Cranage Hall, nr Crewe. The event aims to coach UK manufacturers on delivering a more effective CI programme and will include a keynote conference programme and practical workshop sessions, alongside factory tours.
