Poole-based consoles and electronic displays designer and builder Aish Technologies, which serves defence and commercial markets, has installed Jobshop production control software primarily to reduce lead times by integrating its systems.
The company says it’s now using Jobshop costing, estimating, order processing, manufacturing, stock control and reporting modules – and intends also to implement Exchequer Accounts.
“We are using the latest design and manufacturing tools and adopting lean process techniques to improve operational effectiveness,” explains managing director Ed Bates. “Sustained investment in capital equipment and training has also required replacing our business system with one offering a high degree of functionality.”
He says the system, which will eventually have 35 users with 20 touch screen shop floor data capture terminals, was selected because it offered very good value for money. It also closely matched the company’s contract cost-driven business and Bates liked its scheduling capabilities.
“We aim to be fully live with the system by June,” says information systems manager Paul Hardwick, “by which time we expect to significantly improve our scheduling of work to better utilise capacity and reduce WIP [work in progress].”
