Following the government's revelation that cyber attacks are among the biggest threats to the UK, BSI Group is advising manufacturers to comply with information security standards.
"There is no doubt that the number of cyber attacks is increasing enormously," says a spokesperson. "We experience this every day with businesses, governments and organisations more and more interested in implementing effective solutions," he adds.
BSI Group supports organisations with information security management systems standards that provide a framework and systematic approach for more effective management of information security.
"Organisations that effectively align to, and comply with, the international information security standard are better equipped to respond to a wide range of information security breaches including cyber attacks," he insists.
It's interesting advice from an organisation well known for supporting cyber standards development. In fact, BSI group is currently working with UK representatives developing additions to the ISO 27000 family of IT security standards.
These will include new guidelines for cyber security and information sharing to support the maintenance and protection of national critical infrastructure – standards that are likely to be of increasing importance in helping to reinforce the UK's cyber-security strategy.
