Vinyl flooring manufacturer Amtico says it has eliminated the costs of pre-printed media and significantly reduced the cost of shipping labels since implementing Optio’s digital document design and automation software.
The company had been looking for a document creation and automation solution since upgrading its QAD ERP system – when it found that its earlier solution no longer allowed critical documents to be opened or updated.
Recreating every document would take hours of coding and rework so Simon Smith, Amtico’s IT infrastructure manager, began looking at competitive solutions.
“Our objective was to find an easy-to-use document management solution that would extend the value of our ERP system without requiring additional coding and resources,” he says.
“We chose Optio’s technology because it met all of our requirements,” he says. “Optio’s DesignStudio and e.ComIntegrate solutions worked seamlessly with our upgraded ERP system back in 2000 and continues to do so, despite several upgrades to our ERP and Optio solutions since that time.
“We also like the fact that documents created in DesignStudio translate easily between countries. As a global company with thousands of customers worldwide, the solution’s flexibility saves us valuable time and resources, which allows us to spend more time focused on what we do best.”
According to Smith, Optio’s solutions have enabled Amtico to eliminate the costs of pre-printed media and significantly reduce the costs of shipping labels. “The only pre-printed paper we use now is for check printing, stationery and legal forms,” he says.
“We invested the appropriate amount of time up front to design the documents we needed to advance our business. The solution runs itself. In all this time I’ve never had to do any development work to make it run smoothly. Optio’s solutions have proven to be very reliable – to the point that we’ve expanded DesignStudio and e.ComIntegrate to other parts of our business and pulled out competitive solutions that we had been using in its place.”
