Arco launches PPE range with extra protection from second degree burns

Arco has launched a flame-retardant PPE range that offers four times as much protection from second degree burns when worn as multiple layers.
Layering ArcoPro garments provides 21.28 seconds defence against a burn compared to five seconds when garments are worn individually, Arco revealed.
Correct layering also boost response time between a wearer feeling pain and sustaining a burn to nearly six seconds, according to Arco.
The ArcoPro range including base layers, polo shirts and jackets has been put through rigorous Thermo Mannequin and Thermal Protection Performance (TPP) testing.
TTP testing, which measures the time between the wearer feeling pain and experiencing a burn, was performed on 45 combinations of ArcoPro garments.
The enhanced response times offered by ArcoPro will give the wearer longer to react before suffering a second degree burn, the PPE supplier said.
More than 3,000 people suffered burn-related injuries in the workplace in 2010-11 according to Arco.
The ArcoPro garments comply with the Category III requirements of the European Personal Protection Equipment regulations.
The range was launched at the Safety & Health expo at ExCeL, London.
