Astec Conveyors unveil carbon cutting factory

Astec Conveyors has completed a major overhaul of its Derbyshire site, which includes maximising natural daylight to help cut the building's carbon footprint.

The Swadlincote based premises has been expanded to include a 4000 sq ft mezzanine floor in a bid to create more storage and workspace area. The building has been re-clad and insulated to eco specifications, Astec Conveyors said. Additional roof panels increase natural daylight in the facility by 20% and help cut carbon emissions, the firm added. Adrian Smart, Astec Conveyors md said: "The time was right to refurbish the exterior of the factory to reflect the commitment and professionalism of the operation." The new look site includes a £165,000 Trumpf CNC Punch, 160 tonne bystronic CNC brake press. And powder coating plant. The facilities allow Astec to be self sufficient in the design and manufacturing of conveyor modules, bespoke equipment and complete turnkey materials handling systems, according to the firm.
