Autodesk Inventor is the best selling 3D mechanical design software for manufacturing industry again – for the fifth consecutive year.
The software sold 548,600 seats last year and continues rapid adoption by designers and engineering teams looking to build on their AutoCAD skills, while moving up to 3D modelling.
“Autodesk Inventor software stands alone in helping customers enjoy the richness of 3D without losing investments and resources from existing 2D work,” says Buzz Kross, vice president of Autodesk’s Manufacturing Solutions Division.
He cites reasons for success as: its use of 2D drawings and 3D modelling in an intuitive design environment; integrity between 2D AutoCAD DWG files and 3D Autodesk Inventor models; leading functional design-based capabilities; good data management tools; and disciplined design data sharing across the manufacturing process.
Design services firm Precision Systems Engineering, makes the point well: “Autodesk Inventor is a welcome addition to our tool set, as it works well with the other Autodesk products we use, and is best suited for our large machine/assembly projects,” says Tom Strottner, manager of Mechanical and Civil/Structural Design at Precision Systems Engineering. “The application enables us to provide value to our customers.”
With this software, it says it can deliver designs in less time with fewer revisions – all from a single, integrated environment.
