Business Minister Ian Pearson has today (11 March) met representatives from automotive manufacturers and their supply chain partners to explain how they can apply to the Automotive Assistance Programme.
The government’s £2.3bn scheme is now open following clearance by the European Commission. It applies to the UK automotive sector and supply chain with a turnover of more than £25 million.
Speaking at today’s event, the minister (pictured) said: “The Automotive Assistance Programme is an opportunity for manufacturers and companies in the supply chain in the automotive sector to get ahead of the game and be leading global players in a low carbon economy.
“The government has put the scheme in place and has now clearly set out the criteria against which applications will be judged. Now it’s up to companies to come forward with their bids.”
The programme is part of the government’s Help for Business scheme, which includes the Enterprise Finance Guarantee, the Working Capital Scheme and the Capital for Enterprise Fund. Details of government grants and schemes can be found on the Business Link website (www.businesslink.gov.uk).
