AvePoint Dell integration eases SharePoint lifecycle issues

As Microsoft SharePoint is increasingly used by organisations as a business and content management platform, IT professionals need to ensure that their infrastructure is scalable, and well protected and maintained.

That's the warning from Brandon Canaday, worldwide marketing director of Dell Enterprise Storage Solutions, which has been working with AvePoint on a new integration with Dell's DX Object Storage Platform, under their technology alliance. AvePoint is becoming known for its lifecycle management software solutions for Microsoft SharePoint, and the new solution is aimed at providing a scalable solution for organisations needing to reduce business disruption and increase productivity across their SharePoint environments. Canaday explains that it allows for unified storage management of global SharePoint content, as well as automated SharePoint migration, customisable storage policies, and backup plans for critical SharePoint assets. He says that DocAve enables customers using the DX Object Storage Platform to take advantage of SharePoint, without the usual concerns. Consolidation and archival of SharePoint content on the DX Object Storage Platform decreases SQL storage and eliminates SharePoint management burdens, while the system's data protection dramatically improves backup and restore capabilities, he insists. "Working with AvePoint, Dell is delivering industry leading capabilities for SharePoint that provide storage consolidation with seamless scale, granular restoration of the platform tied to business requirements – and the ability to successfully manage the exponential growth of the environment," states Canaday. "We are excited to partner with Dell and integrate these solutions with DX Object Storage Platform, which will help even more customers unleash SharePoint's full business potential," adds said George Petrou, senior vice president of product management at AvePoint.
