AVTOTOR connects production sites with unified communications

Russian car manufacturer AVTOTOR is reporting success with a major communications project linking four plants and its head office with email and VoIP, with remote access and mobile device support, using Unified Communications.

Konstantin Steshenko, director of IT for the Kaliningrad-based organisation – which produces 27 models for brands including BMW, GM, KIA, and Opel – says that it needed "a flexible, low-maintenance product that wouldn't be dependent on a certain device type". Hence, he says the IceWarp-powered unified communications network, which has integrated email, VoIP/SIP, texting, instant messaging and groupware collaboration, with one client interface. "IceWarp web client helps us to maintain reliable and effective communications with remote and mobile workers, allowing us to use all unified communications capabilities through one interface," comments Steshenko. He also states that AVTOTOR integrated IceWarp with its Cisco telephone system, significantly reducing voice communications costs and allowing the company's IT department to improve management of the environment. Steshenko cites the system's intuitive server administration interface, with its event alert management, server log integration and proprietary log analysis tools as among key benefits to the IT team. "My recommendation to organisations, whose workforces are dispersed across multiple offices and are constantly on the move, would be to pay attention to this product," advises Steshenko.
