Bevan takes the market by storm with new vehicle eco-body

Oldbury manufacturer Bevan Motor Bodies has provided West Bromwich MP and Chair of the Business, Innovation and Skills Select Committee Adrian Bailey (pictured second left) with a special demonstration of the 'Bevan 21', the company's new environmentally-friendly model that has so far chalked up over £2m of sales to the likes of Argos and Nightfreight.

The aerodynamic eco body reduces weight, increases payload and cuts the carbon footprint of the vehicle and provides customers with a Millbrook-approved 15% saving on fuel costs. Lee Dimmock (pictured left), operations director at the 160 employee firm operating across four Black Country sites, said; "We are always looking at developing new products to stay ahead of the market and the low carbon marketplace offers us an excellent opportunity to put our design and technical expertise to the fore." Order intake was now increasing impressively, Lee added, with the industry generally still recovering from the impact of a 65% drop in sales through leaner times last year. "Employment has also increased and, with exciting plans for new model variations in the pipeline, we expect more jobs to be created shortly," he went on. Bevan's in-house team worked with the Manufacturing Advisory Service-West Midlands in developing the Bevan 21's aerodynamic frame.
