Birmingham based presswork manufacturer, H T Brigham is to take on extra manufacturing and production staff following a £4m contract win for an innovative new fuel cell component.
This contract win, along with several other high value has also driven the manufacturer's investment in plant and processes to the point where, by the end of the year, it will have invested more than half a million pounds into securing future growth.
Much of the investment has been in new machinery and factory re-development while "a significant portion", says Brigham, has also been assigned to an intensive lean manufacturing programme. The company has also committed to putting every employee through a programme of Business Improvement Techniques, which will earn them a national vocational qualification.
The order win, which has given the pressworker its latest boost and encouraged much of the new investment, is for supply into the lucrative energy generation sector and will create 15 new jobs, ranging from production operatives to development engineers.
Technical Sales Manager, Andrew Essom (pictured left with HT Brigham directors Simone Thomas and Barry Smith) said the firm's production methodology for the fuel cell component drastically reduced its unit cost of the component, but also allowed the customer to pass on this significant cost reduction into its assembly and in turn secure long-term manufacture of the assembled product to their own customer.'
