To mark its first 100 years, the group, which includes the BMW, Mini, and Rolls-Royce brands, has looked over the horizon at future trends and come up with six hypotheses for individual mobility. They are:
- New forms of mobility will open up countless possibilities for people to get where they want to go.
- Everything will be connected through digitalisation and digital intelligence.
- Mobility will be increasingly flexible and tailored to individual needs. BMW predicted that customised mobility would automatically ensure that people are able to use the best means of transport and take their preferred route to their destination.
- Technologies are getting smarter. The BMW Group said it believed innovations were only beneficial to people if they were simple and user-friendly: “Technologies must be able to learn from and adapt to people, so that technology seems less technical and more human and familiar.”
- Energy will increasingly come from renewable sources.
- Global companies will take responsibility for the environment and the people both directly and indirectly in its sphere of activity.
