Britannia proves Cygscope is worth its weight in silver
Lead and silver smelting firm Britannia has named the CygScope its best equipment purchase of 2010, claiming that it has made plant operations easier and safer.
Roy Blowers, maintenance supervisor, explains that the efficiency of vacuum in its silver production process is paramount to producing a high product yield. Leaks can waste 20—30% of a compressor's output, he says.
Not only has the CygScope (which uses ultrasound to detect leaks) improved the ability of Britannia's maintenance department to detect leaks; it has also ensured greater safety. That is because its parabolic probe means that technicians can carry out checks from a distance in areas previously inaccessible due to heat or height.
"The CygsScope is, without doubt, one of the best equipment purchases we made in 2010," says Blowers. "It has not only made our job easier, but has already paid for itself."
CygScope is suited to virtually all types of leak detection. Emissions can be precisely located because of the equipment's sensitivity.
