From today, smaller manufacturers wanting to improve data security and productivity can work with BT Business to implement Microsoft Windows Small Business Server 2008, due for general release next week.
The company says it will also be providing fully integrated, end-to-end IT and network infrastructure support for small businesses.
Small Business Server 2008 is aimed at organisations of up to 75 employees and, according to Microsoft, sports many of the features formerly only available to larger firms – such as email, internal web sites, remote access, support for mobile devices, file and printer sharing, and backup and restore.
Colin Mattey, director of ICT and solutions at BT Business, says the company is offering help with installation, administration and management – potentially transforming reliability and services for the estimated 67% of SMEs currently running without a server.
“By making enterprise-level IT and services accessible and affordable for small business for the first time, BT Business is helping UK firms increase productivity and do what they do best: grow their businesses,” says Mattey.
