BT to launch converged fixed-mobile service for businesses

The new service will enable companies to think about combining their fixed phone and mobile assets and increase their deployment of IP telephony and WiFi coverage. Leeds City Council, the second largest local authority in the UK, is the first to adopt the system, piloting BT Corporate Fusion across two of its premises, using dual-mode mobile phones that incorporates regular GSM and additional WiFi connectivity. Andy Green, CEO of BT Global Services, says: “BT has emerged as a clear leader in the new market created by the convergence of communications and IT. We are using BT’s global knowledge, experience and expertise to ensure that this new innovative service will reduce the complexity of communications whilst also improving employee effectiveness and business productivity.”
