CA and Capgemini partner for sustainability management

CA Technologies and Capgemini are establishing a global energy, carbon and sustainability partnership to offer business process outsourcing.

The pair say their offering mimics existing BPO services for payroll, HR and IT support, and will allow manufacturers to take responsibility for carbon monitoring, without the detail of running the function. In fact, the service brings together Capgemini's existing BPO business unit and CA Technologies' CA ecoSoftware solution – so focusing on managing sustainability data collection and reporting. "The global alliance between CA Technologies and Capgemini is among the first of its type for energy, carbon and sustainability management services," comments Stuart Neumann, senior manager at independent sustainability analyst Verdantix. "Capgemini's reputation for business process outsourcing is well-suited to complement CA ecoSoftware, which Verdantix recently identified as a leading solution in the carbon and energy management software market," he adds. Interestingly, Capgemini UK says it is already benefitting from the new BPO service internally, for managing its own energy and sustainability data. Historically, that depended on spreadsheets, but Tony Kelly, new business services director at Capgemini BPO, says the increasing complexity of reporting requirements and the need to provide different levels of user access meant the organisation needed a new auditable software solution. In its case, he says, the service provides web-based reports to Capgemini's UK sustainability board and operational dashboards to the environmental team. He estimate that the service will reduce sustainability operating costs by 30% while also improving data quality. "A new managed service is a logical extension of our strength in finance and accounting and supply chain services BPO," says Kelly. "Capgemini selected the CA ecoSoftware solution because it can meet the needs and scale of our global enterprise clients."
