She will be the first woman to hold the position in the organisation’s history.
Caroline is currently CEO with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), where she has played a key role in strengthening its status as the largest and most influential professional body for construction management in the world. She is particularly proud of establishing a new team at CIOB focused on sustainability, addressing the skills gap, advancing EDI initiatives, and enhancing quality and safety for clients. Prior to taking up her role with the CIOB, she had an extensive business transformation career within the engineering sector, both in the UK and abroad, including her tenure at Make UK (formerly EEF The Manufacturers' Organisation).

She is also a visiting professor at Loughborough University as well as a non-executive director for the Chartered Institute of Export and International Trade.
On her appointment, Caroline said: “I am extremely proud to have accepted this special role. I appreciate and respect TWI’s proud heritage; its research really matters for our global technological advancement, benefiting all society. I look forward to working with Professional and Industrial Members from July and leading a highly impressive and talented team at The Welding Institute.”
