CEO to spell out JLR future

David Smith (pictured), CEO of Jaguar Land Rover, is to deliver a lecture at Aston University on March 11 spelling out how the car maker can develop during the current period of uncertainty.

Smith became JLR’s chief executive in June last year after it was sold to the Indian steel maker Tata. Subsequently, a roller coaster ride has seen him dealing with complex transition issues, putting the long term strategy for the business in place and trying to manage through the fallout from the worst global financial crisis for generations. At Aston University, he will deliver the MacLaren Memorial Lecture, an annual event in memory of one of the Midlands' leading industrialists, James Edward MacLaren.
