Freight management firm CEVA Logistics has implemented Sterling Integrator as the technical platform for its CEVA Connect event-driven real-time communications system for its trading partners.
News of the integration platform deployment was released at the CSCMP (Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals) conference yesterday.
Brian Gentry, global director for integration services at CEVA, says that the company is expecting to optimise supply chain communications, to become more responsive to business needs.
"One of the key value propositions we provide is the secure, reliable and auditable exchange of data with our trading partners," says Gentry. "Sterling Integrator provides the B2B integration platform that supports all of our processes in real-time."
CEVA Connect manages information transactions around the movement of goods, providing updates and managing documents such as load tenders, package order status, shipping notices, proof of delivery and receipts.
Harnessing Sterling Integrator has allowed CEVA to centralise its IT systems and, according to Gentry, has dramatically increased the amount of transactions that can be processed each day. Standardising systems worldwide also makes it easier to extend or start new relationships with customers, he says.
"Visibility across the supply chain is not a new challenge, but global complexity demands a technology commitment," comments Gene Nusekabel, logistics industry executive at Sterling Commerce.
"Logistics companies have many different systems to connect internally and with a variety of customers. With CEVA Connect, CEVA is demonstrating how creating an integrated communications system across all its partners can reduce costs and deliver new value for their customer base."
