Manufacturing business systems specialist Cincom, which majors on engineer-to-order ERP systems, has released Cincom Acquire as a hosted service on Microsoft's Azure cloud platform.
The new cloud software is designed to automate configuration, pricing and quoting of complex products and services. It is based on the firm's Guru business rule management system, which enables business analysts to capture sales and product knowledge and bring it online.
Ralph Schwarz, Cincom Acquire product director, says that users will benefit from the Microsoft Azure platform, because "it delivers a more cost-effective, on-demand solution while ensuring the performance, reliability and security of an on-premise alternative".
Schwarz explains that cloud deployment was the only answer for one of Cincom's customers that wanted to improve processing speed of its system between two plants.
"After looking at a fibre optic cable between the two plants or a third-party hosting solution, they chose Cincom Acquire on Windows Azure, which provided a cost savings over alternatives," states Schwarz.
