Cisco has expanded its industrial networks offering for industrial environments by unveiling a bunch of new switches.
Chet Namboodri, global director of Manufacturing Industry Solutions and Marketing at Cisco says that its Industrial Ethernet 3010 series has been designed specifically for factory and process plant automation requirements.
"With an ever increasing number of IP-based network solutions being deployed in the industrial environment, we support our customers in this area by providing our long experience in routing and switching," comments Namboodri.
"As a result, the IE 3010 Series offers switches adjusted to special requirements and Cisco's high quality standard," he adds.
In brief detail, IE 3010 is available with two configurations for standard 19 inch racking – with front and rear end LED panels for forward or reverse installation. All units have fan-less convection cooling and enhanced shock, vibration and surge ratings, with a variety of power supply and input options.
Features include: support for fibre aggregation (16 SFP ports) and Power over Ethernet configurations; DHCP for easier deployment and management; SD flash memory with swap drive; and high availability, deterministic quality of service behaviour and reliable security as per Cisco's IOS software.
