RFID specialist Intermec’s Intellitag IF5 factory configurable reader is the first to meet independent test criteria for interoperability with Cisco’s new AON RFID solution, introduced at the EPCglobal conference in Atlanta last month.
Cisco is working with several RFID device providers, but it is Intermec that has provided network patents through its Rapid Start Licensing Program for Cisco. That allows Cisco to manufacture products with the RFID capabilities and functionality that end-users are demanding.
“With Cisco RFID solution technology offerings, such as the IF5, customers can quickly and efficiently deploy business solutions with tested interoperability to enhance employee productivity, reduce costs and improve customer care,” says Steve Sneddon, director of business development at Cisco’s AON (application-orientated networking) business unit.
