icloud, claimed to be the world's first online computer, has launches desktop, sharing and 'super search', which it says can extend the life of ageing computers.
Daniel Arthursson, founder of the Linkoping, Sweden-based company, says its icloud is more than a hosted virtual desktop (HVD). "It's a real-time communication and sharing platform enabling easy collaboration," he says.
He explains that iCloud's key differentiator to other cloud computing services is its application virtualisation technology, which enables software delivery as SaaS, but execution on the local computer.
"This preserves data centre resources, reduces bandwidth consumption and is the greenest environmental friendly cloud computing on the planet," says Arthursson.
"With icloud, everyone in the world can afford to have their own computer, it's free and always accessible," he adds.
