This year’s Computers in Manufacturing show (CIM 2001, running from 30 October to 1 November at Halls 6 and 7 at the NEC, Birmingham) is to get new show features, according to exhibition organiser Penton Europe. Visitors will be able to feast on everything from design technologies, to control systems, as well as e-procurement, e-manufacturing, ERP (enterprise resource planning), supply chain applications, CRM (customer relationship management) and integration.
There is also to be a free seminar series, broadly reflecting the feature themes, and a two-day conference covering ‘collaborative commerce’. Seminars will address all the main areas, including manufacturing management (ERP, APS, MRP II and so forth), supply chain systems (supply chain management, logistics, warehouse management and services), e-business strategy (web-enabling systems) and e-procurement.
As for exhibitors, there are already 90 signed – names like Asprova (APS), Autodesk, Cincom, Epicor, Excel, Fujitsu/Glovia, IBS, K3, Made2Manage, Manusoft, Mapics, McGuffie, MI Services, Minerva, Navisioin, Pathtrace, Preactor, Sage, SAP, Solidworks and SSA. Show director Damon Thompson says he expects this number to swell to 150.
Says Thnompson, this year’s show is a must. “You’ll learn how to kill costs, crush time-to-market, decimate inventories, overhaul supply chains and maximise your ROI from your ERP, CAD system and shop floor control.”
