Independent cosmetic house John Gosnell is implementing a .Net based ERP system from SSL WinMan to integrate its Microsoft-based islands of information and improve stock management, performance measurement and work flow visibility.
The company, which manufactures product in bulk and to bespoke packaging, also runs research and development facilities, and says its Access- and Excel-based management systems were no loner up to the job.
Says director Christopher Warner: “Our existing systems were a mixture of Access databases, various legacy spreadsheets, manual forms and a limited accounts package. In that extent we had lots of data but this was held in disconnected islands of information with all the inherent problems associated with that.”
He says that WinMan was chosen for its intuitive interface and its combination of stock management, relationship management, product traceability and work flow functionality – and its .NET technology.
On work flow, for example, he points to the system’s ability to automatically issues alerts and action requests at pre-determined process points – ensuring that processes are precisely matched and quality maintained.
In addition to anticipated benefits of greater stock and production control, he expects WinMan to become the source of all expert knowledge within the company – avoiding the bottleneck of a few specialists.
“WinMan has at its heart a proven ‘joined-up and togetherness’, while remaining completely flexible to meet our existing needs and those which may arise in the future. It will help us build upon our existing high standards for quality and customer service,” says Warner.
The system is due to go live early next year.
