Power resistor manufacturer Cressall has been awarded the ISO14001 environmental accreditation for its green processes and systems.
The ISO14001 accreditation culminates a two year bid to improve waste management and recycling for Leicester-based Cressall said Joe Pickering, safety, health, environmental and quality engineer at the firm.
He said: "We don't produce high emissions, so it was natural that our focus would be to considerably reduce scrap and waste."
Pickering added: "However, our environmental targets also include energy reduction. We strive to optimise our electricity usage and decrease gas and water consumption. This not only sends savings straight to the bottom line, but it is also good for the environment."
The ISO14001 standard is a benchmark that shows a company runs effective environmental management systems.
Gaining the accolade marked the latest step in Cressall's ongoing continuous improvement programme said the company's MD Cy Wilkins.
"Achieving ISO14001 means a lot to us. It helps build confidence amongst our partners and suppliers and testifies to our commitment to continual improvement."
