Witham, Essex-based CSI Electronic Manufacturing Services is reporting immediate success with its 123insight 'rented' ERP system – with costs running at just 60% of its previous system's maintenance contract alone.
Darren Webb, CSI manufacturing director, cites other key benefits as including massive stock accuracy improvement, with a big inventory reduction expected, as well as paper usage halved.
The company looked at five ERP systems before being recommended 123insight by a friend of the managing director, whose company Reverie is also using the system.
Webb says he attended an evaluation workshop last April 2010 and followed up with two staff attending 123 Insight's no-obligation training the same month.
That was followed by one month of data cleansing across 5,000 stock lines, 266 BoMs, 200 suppliers and 500 purchase orders. Data transfer, he says, started on the morning of Friday 18th June and the company went live at lunchtime on the following day.
Interestingly, he also says that, although CSI had planned to run its existing spreadsheets in tandem with the new system for a few weeks, by the Monday it was satisfied with the quality of the data transfer and switched them off.
Webb says it was a good start, and the business rapidly saw a dramatic change in day-to-day processes. "We were suddenly able to do much more with our time. We're running at a much greater capacity with the same number of staff, and I would estimate that we could grow the business a further 25% without needing to increase staff numbers."
As for stock control, he says it has improved massively. "We're confident that by the end of the year we'll reduce our stockholding by 25% and almost eliminate stock inaccuracies," comments Webb.
And he adds: "123insight is far superior to any other MRP/ERP system I've used or seen. Had I come across 123insight in my previous role, I would have changed and saved megabucks."
