Cummins Ramsgate's Best Factory Award triggers global following

Cummins Power Generation in Ramsgate has received global acclaim after scooping the Most Improved Plant prize at the Best Factory Awards 2012.

Photos of the Ramsgate team with their trophy were beamed out to Cummins sites in the US, Brazil and India via the firm's electronic new system. A celebratory article was also published on the Cummins global website. The recognition came after Cummins management team held their own awards ceremony to thank the all of Ramsgate's employees for their awards efforts. The ceremony included a special accolade for shopfloor operator Tony Martin. Martin was praised for his pride and professionalism by WM editor Max Gosney in his Best Factory Awards opening address after the two had met on the awards judging visit. Neil Smith, director global operations transformation at Cummins, Ramsgate said: "The team at Kent should be proud of their achievements. We hope this provides the drive to continue submitting the BFA questionnaire over the coming years and move on to even bigger and better accolades and achievements."
